Spring Time in the Garden House

An opportunity to stroll the garden and relax in the Garden House for afternoon tea—complete with a delectable assortment of savories, sweets, and teas.

 

The afternoon includes a presentation by Dan Hinkley, Heronswood’s Garden Director, on the “Best for the Northwest: Plants to make your garden shine in spring and summer.”

This is a limited opportunity with just 24 total seats available. Your registration enters you into the day’s raffle and you’ll receive a rare plant—specially chosen by Dan—to take home as a memento.

Spring Plant Sale & Garden Open

General admission is free. $10 cost to tour the Garden. Mothers receive free entry into the garden on Mother’s Day!

Featuring up to 12 nurseries, Heronswood’s Spring Plant Sale is the best way to prepare for planting your own garden. In addition, it’s a great opportunity to tour the garden at the height of its spring bloom. 

 

Free lectures available on both days, including from Heronswood’s Garden Director, Dan Hinkley; Sean Hogan of Cistus Nursery; rose expert Nita-Jo Rountree; and Jeffrey Bale of Gardens by Jeffrey Bale. Lecture entry is first come, first served.

Kingston Cove (Almost) Summer Fest

KINGSTON, WA - May 12, 2018 

11 am - 7:30pm

Apple Tree Cove

 

There will be nautical excitement and fun galore for young whippersnappers and old salts at this all-day festival at the Port of Kingston.   You’ll enjoy a whirlwind of maritime-centered activities starting at 11 AM and ending with a Street Dance until 7:30 PM.   

 

The (Almost) Summer event is hosted by the Kingston Cove Yacht Club, Port of Kingston, and the Greater Kingston Chamber of Commerce.

 

Presentation of the Colors and the Opening Ceremony begin at 11 AM at the Port of Kingston pavilion, followed by sea-faring events at the Port Marina, with the Blessing of the Kingston Cove Yacht Club fleet, new boat Christening ceremonies, a parade of dressed boats in the Sound, and an opportunity to tour the 84 ft. schooner Martha.

Viking Fest 50th

POULSBO, WA - May 18 -20, 2018

Poulsbo’s Viking Fest is a celebration of Norway’s Constitution Day of May 17. In Norway, it is a festival of flags and colorful processions, where children walk to the music of marching bands.

 

Traditional Norwegian costumes are a prominent and common part of the celebrations. The festivities last from early morning to late at night. Parties with family and friends featuring traditional food and drinks are common.
