GHOST WALKS IN PORT GAMBLE

Ghost Walk Tours In Port Gamble

Home to what is arguably the most haunted building in western Washington; the Walker-Ames house in Port Gamble has become a local hotspot for paranormal groups, psychics and investigators.

This video features paranormal investigator Pete Orbea.  It also showcases the Walker-Ames house.

Anyone who has wandered the streets after dark, explored the Buena Vista cemetery, or participated in a ghost walk or investigation does not need to stay long to know that Port Gamble is a haven for paranormal activity.  With recorded evidence going back as early as the 1950’s, there are stories from nearly every building in town.

In 2007 Port Gamble started offering a Candlelight Mystery Tour, which was soon changed to the, now infamous, Port Gamble Ghost Walk. The walks were immediately successful. In 2010 Port Gamble started the annual Port Gamble Ghost Conference, a weekend of lectures, classes and investigations focused on the paranormal.

In 2012, after several requests, Special Investigations were added to the repertoire, giving locals and travelers the opportunity to spend three hours investigating the Walker-Ames house, led by a paranormal investigator. For the past five years, the Ghost Walks and Special Investigations have been led by paranormal investigator Pete Orbea from The Olympic Peninsula Paranormal Society (Team OPPS) and PRI (Paranormal Research & Investigations). “I always get asked, ‘Why is Port Gamble so haunted?’. I believe there is so much paranormal activity here because Port Gamble was, and is such a nice place to live that the long-term residents just don’t want to leave.” says Orbea.

The popular three hour tour begins with a tour of the Port Gamble Historic Museum which has its share of paranormal activity. After the museum, attendees get a tour of the old Community Center, built in 1906, which houses the Port Gamble Theater, town Post Office and old morgue. After visiting the old morgue, guests are ushered up to the historic Buena Vista Cemetery, established in 1856, where many people have had strange experiences while walking through the old gravesites. Tour attendees then loop around the main core of Port Gamble ending up on historic Rainier Ave. where tour guide, Pete Orbea shares the history of all of the buildings along with reported and experienced paranormal stories, mostly from his own experiences and investigations. The tour concludes with an hour in the Walker-Ames House where guests get to walk through each of the four floors including the attic and basement. While in the house, attendees get a sample of investigating the paranormal, sometimes making contact with the “long-term residents” of the house. Most often, people get to experience hearing footsteps, voices, and even seeing shadowy figures moving about the house. “I think the tours are so popular because word has gotten out that you come to Port Gamble and have a real paranormal experience.” says Orbea who has logged more than 300 hours in the Walker-Ames House. Orbea also plays recordings for attendees of voices captured in the house during investigations.
