While the event attracts mostly sailors, it’s open to anyone and registration isn’t needed – just show up. Admission is free.

The party is an annual tribute to the cruising lifestyle, a celebration of freedom with certain recurring elements including live music, attendees decked out in pirate gear, plenty of liquid refreshments and frequent cannon fire (pet owners beware).

Blindfolded dinghy races, pirate dance Saturday night with a best dressed pirate contest. Local ale on tap, potluck dinner Saturday night on the docks. Vendors selling pirate gear. Possibly a piñata for the kids. And more.

The event gets underway Friday night with live music on the docks by local trop-rock favorite Dave Calhoun.

KINGSTON, WA- Kingston Slug Hunt

It’s another great family event in Kingston.  The (oh-so-Pacific Northwest) Kingston Slug Hunt is a one day, event, held August 18th, from 9 AM to noon in Kingston.

Beginning at 9 AM sharp, maps will be given out at the Village Green Community Center Park, and, with a $2 Slug Hunting License, hunters are encouraged to search all over town for a ceramic medallion—which are hidden everywhere. Bring your medallion(s) with your license(s) back to the Village Green Community Center and trade them for a decorated ceramic slug of your choice.

The 8” wildly themed ceramic slugs are individually and idiosyncratically decorated by established artists, art students and other community members. Prior to the event, you’ll need a hunting license for EACH medallion-redeemed slug.  Slug Police will be patrolling the area to keep everyone honest—so buy your license(s) early! No Poaching!

Starting July 27th, buy your Slug Hunting licenses—$2 for each license (and buy as many as you want) at the Village Green Community Center, 26159 Dulay Road NE, Kingston, WA 98346 and at the Kingston Arts Festival, same location. For convenience you can also purchase your hunting license on the festival website with PayPal, www.kingstonfestivalwa.org.

The Fabulous Slug Auction will be held in the evening at Village Green Community Center. This will be an adults-only party with wine and snacks and fun 7 PM to 8:30 PM.
